Artist Post

Adrian Todd is a vector artist From Norway. His style has a realistic look as well as the flatness that is characteristic of vector art. He does not only do vector art but is also a skilled oil painter. This can be seen in his style of drawing.

His work brings life to these portraits in a crisp and refreshing way. Most of his work is created using the gradient mesh tool. this tool takes any shape, turns it into a mesh that then can be colored and warped with a gradient to show mass and volume. using the combination of the gradient mesh tool with the flat vector shapes he creates this hyperreal image that has a bit of contrast in style. this contrast between the flat fields and the gradients give his portraits a kind of movement and pop. Another key feature is the harmony that the facial expressions have with the image style itself. For example the top one has a sooth almost soft to the touch face yet an aggressive hair and background. The bottom one on the other hand is all attitude, in her body language as well as his use of flat color fields.
